"LENGTHEN YOUR STRIDE" or "HASTEN YOUR SHUFFLE"

"I express gratitude for our senior missionaries.  They are young in spirit, wise and willing to work.  They even tolerate remarks from their fun-filled children who might change President Spencer W. Kimball's plea of "Lengthen Your Stride" to "Hasten Your Shuffle."
(Elder Russell M. Nelson)

For 95% of our mission we have traveled by train and walked and walked and walked!  For fun, early on in our mission we decided to start using a pedometer to track how much we were walking.  We were amazed at what we discovered!

Steps (shuffles) per day-10,612
Steps (shuffles) per month-318,360
Steps (shuffles) per year-3,820,320

Total steps (shuffles) during our 18 month mission-5,730,480 steps!

Several computer sites including 'Shape Up America' state that walking 10,000 steps is the approximate equivalent of walking 5 miles.  The distance of course, depends on one's stride.  That is why it is approximate.

If this is the case, we have walked (shuffled) 2,865.25 miles in the past 18 months.  The pioneer trek from Nauvoo to Salt Lake City is 1,300 miles-round trip 2,600 miles!

Our shuffle is winding down...
we are coming home!
